Growing up I officially lived in six different places in Louisiana, but lovingly call St. Francisville home. I earned my undergrad in Management and Entrepreneurship from the Purple and Gold. I think experiencing different types of work is key to finding a career that I'll truly love and for which my abilities are best suited. In undergrad, I worked at a large corporate defense law firm. Following graduation, I worked as a field-marketing representative for Raising Cane's. I left Cane's to pursue a rather unconventional dream to become a Navy SEAL Officer. Two hard years later I started training and realized it was not the best fit for me. This past summer, I interned for U.S. Senator David Vitter in his Washington, D.C. office using many concepts I learned in the MBA program in his appropriations department. I currently work as a Small Business Counselor at the LSU Small Business Development Center counseling public entrepreneurs on how to start and finance a business from scratch.
I'm currently applying to the Harvard Kennedy School of Government for a Master of Public Policy. I’m also applying to companies I love like Nike and Bain & Co. Consulting in states like Colorado, California, and Georgia. Another pot I have in the fire is an application as a Presidential Management Fellow. Ultimately, I want to bring my experience and hopes to bear in the State of Louisiana in a political capacity. Whether I become a local or federal politician, I want to contribute to the realization of our state's potential. That said, I never intend to make the mistake of limiting myself to one path, and I'm committed to being flexible as my future unfolds.
I love to play music, but I can't read a note. I can play (to a degree) the saxophone, guitar, and drums. Back in the "Golden Era," I played guitar and sang (horribly) at open-mic night at "The Mellow Mushroom." Guitar is my favorite because it allows me to get into my own version of the songs I love most. However, I absolutely cannot play "Guitar Hero" to save my life.
