Meet Your MBA Colleagues

Kyle Gautreaux

Hello all!  My name is Kyle Gautreaux and I am a first year MBA student at LSU.  I am originally from a small town called New Iberia, LA approximately one hour west of Baton Rouge.  I attended small private school called Catholic High where my days centered on doing schoolwork and playing athletics.  In 2005, I graduated valedictorian of my class.

When I began classes at LSU, my original major was biological sciences with aspirations of attending LSU medical school.  After my first semester at LSU, I realized med school was not something I really wanted to do, and in the spring of my freshman year, I changed my major to biological engineering.  My love for biology, math, and physics made this major perfect for my personal interest and future career goals. In 2009, I graduated from the college of engineering with a degree in biological engineering with the hopes of pursuing an MBA from LSU.

Throughout my college career I have held a number of interesting part time jobs/internships.  For three years, I held a part time job with Lafayette Utilities Systems (LUS) where I assisted professional engineers on several interesting projects including the installation of two gas turbine power generation stations and the planning and implementation of a fiber optic network system for the city of Lafayette.  In the summer of 2008, I had an internship with a small company called R.W. Beck, Inc in Denver, CO.  I spent three months in Denver working with consultants on a multitude of energy projects ranging from coal power generation through renewable power stations.

My current career plan is to work as a consulting project manager on renewable energy projects.  With my background firmly planted in biological engineering, I hope to one day help manage bio-energy projects around the world.

On my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, working out, and tailgating at LSU football games.  During the summers I try to travel as much as possible.  My interest in other cultures has led me to Europe twice in my college career.  During these European excursions, I have visited Amsterdam, Den Haag, Brussels, Paris, and Koln with the hope of adding many more cities to this list.
