Meet Your MBA Colleagues

Megan Jurkus

My name is Megan Jurkus, and I am a first year MBA candidate! I was born and raised in the land where they grow the best peaches on earth. That’s right- Ruston, Louisiana! I am the youngest of four by quite a long shot, and now I am lucky to have wonderful nieces and nephews whom I simply adore.

I attended Louisiana Tech University where I was an active member of Kappa Delta Sorority, a student assistant to the Vice President of Financial Services, and an editor for the yearbook. I graduated in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing then began pursuing my MBA at Louisiana Tech. I put that on hold when I accepted the opportunity of a lifetime- a seven month internship with The Walt Disney Company.

In sunny Orlando, Florida I worked as a professional intern for the Disney Learning Center, a division of Walt Disney World Human Resources. As an intern I was given the opportunity to develop internal marketing campaigns for the DLC and work with “Cast Members” from all levels of the company. And I did it all from an HR office beneath Cinderella’s Castle! If you’re interested in Walt Disney World trivia, I’m your girl. Upon my return to the great state of Louisiana, I knew that LSU was the best place for me to continue my education.

Currently, I am working in the Flores MBA Program Office as a graduate assistant, and I will proudly serve as Blue Cohort Leader for the Class of 2011. My specialization will be in marketing, and my goal is to become a brand manager for a consumer products firm.

Being an LSU Tiger is amazing, and I am very fortunate to be a part of such a fantastic program. I have enjoyed meeting and getting to know each one of you, and I am looking forward to all that this year has in store for us!
