I grew up in a small town called Watson, Louisiana about 20 miles from Baton Rouge. I always wanted to be an LSU Tiger and as soon as I figured out that “Engineering” was the closest thing there is to playing with LEGO’s for a living, my mind was made up. I ran cross country and track and enjoyed playing music and drawing. I graduated valedictorian from Live Oak High School in 2004 and began undergraduate at LSU soon after that.
I had a great undergrad experience at LSU that consisted of a lot of homework, a lot of caffeine, and a lot of fun. My senior year, I built a Hurricane Tower for the LSU Hurricane Center. The project was funded by a grant from the LA Board of Regents. The 10 meter tall tower is designed to be towed into the path of an oncoming hurricane and collect data used for meteorological research. I became interested in pursuing an MBA my junior year and considered getting some work experience before starting grad school, but ultimately decided to jump right into the program.
I have loved my MBA experience so far and expect the rest of the year to be a blast. I am specializing in Project Management and Entrepreneurship. I also serve as the Communications Chair with the MBA Association.
In the future, I plan on working as an engineer to get some technical experience in a field of engineering I find interesting and challenging. As I mentioned, I have loved engineering from a young age, but I am also leaving room open for opening my own business. Both of my grandfathers started their own businesses, and I have always been attracted by the freedom and potential that entrepreneurs experience.
