In November, LSU Foundation Director Beverly Brooks Major was our first guest speaker. She gave our group helpful advice she has learned first hand on balancing career and personal life, staying on level with your male counterparts and knowing your own limits in your career. We expect her back in the Spring.

01.04.2009 - What's Ahead

"'It's a man's world, sweetie' was a bitter comment from a woman of a generation who didn't have the kind of choices my generation of woman had" - First Female President of Harvard, Drew Gilpin Faust

Thank you for an amazing first semester of NAWMBA here at LSU.  The semester had many highlights including the Sunday Brunch Kickoff, the 2008 National Conference in Connecticut, Senoritas and Margaritas at Serranos, guest speaker Beverly Brooks Major, and NAWMBA's Holiday Party.  I am so proud of what we have accomplished thus far and I am excited about what is on the horizon.

Looking forward to next semester, we have some big changes in the works.  First, Sally Myers is taking over at Executive Vice President to finish out the rest of the 2008-2009 school year.  Second, our officers are already hard at work planning some awesome events for the Spring 2009 semester.  Two big ones to look forward to are our back-to-school Cocktail in January and the C. Murray Pace – "Keep the Pace" 5k Run on Saturday, March 21, 2009.  The First Annual "Keep The Pace" 5k Run in honor of C. Murray Pace is NAWMBA's flagship event for the spring semester and we hope to have club wide involvement.

NAMWBA is here to empower women MBAs and propel more women into leadership positions in corporate America.  NAWMBA, LSU Chapter's purpose is to be part of the proactive women's movement that ensures the phrase "it's a man's world" is never uttered by one of our daughters.

President
