The MBA Ballers Volleyball team took on the team "Jocks for Rocks (Geostudies Students)" Sunday night. This team had not lost a set and was the first seed in the playoffs tournament. The Ballers were a little worried, but confident. This confidence carried us to a 21-15 win and continued to a 21-12 beat-down on the second set. The Ballers sent the Geostudies students back to Howe-Russell where they belong. In the name of good sportsmanship, the Ballers offered to play a 3rd set for fun. The other team replied "No thanks... We'll just stop the bleeding now." The team advances to the semi-finals where they will play "Do Net Work" Thursday night at 6:30pm.
Now we take you to Justin Cropper on MBA Baller Flag Football:
Intramural sports don’t mean much. Most rational, civilized persons probably mostly agree with this statement. However, the blood that is shed is the same that is bled in any other struggle—ask Brian McNamara. Alex Boudreaux can tell you that the injuries are just as nagging. Just like in any major sporting event, the sweat is lost forever. The want to win is the same on the LSU recreational fields as it is on many other competitive surfaces. One could have seen it in the distraught faces of members of the MBA Ballers as the final play was no more.
As fate had it, the MBA Ballers’ fall intramural season came to an end after a 32-26 double-overtime loss. The heart-breaking, playoff loss was way too much like the one the soccer team had earlier in the season. For those who played both (which is most of the players), it was tough reliving what was thought to be a distant memory. Nevertheless, the MBA team came together in trying to achieve a common goal, and it will be ready to face whatever challenge the intramural spring season will bring.
On a personal note, it was my pleasure competing with the group of guys that chose to play this semester. I encourage anyone else to come out next semester—especially if you play goalie, Alex Goodwin.
