MBAA NEWSLETTER - March 10, 2010
CHAMPIONS!!!

It was a cool March evening. A slight breeze came in from the south, and the smell of manure from the nearby ag pastures filled the air. As Robert Marler extended his cleated foot, a collective breath was taken and collectively released; as a disappointing sigh for the Hot 7, and as exclamations of joy for the MBA Ballers. Marler's penalty kick finished the intramural soccer championship. After the game's scoreless first half, the nail-biting second half ended in a tie of 1-1. This led to a penalty shootout that lasted 7 rounds before the Ballers claimed victory. The Ballers ended a perfect season 7-0 and followed up with a "bragging rights" game against the Intramural Fraternity Champions which they won despite injuries and absences. Not only did the Ballers go undefeated, they did not trail in a single game the entire season. True dominance. Soccer team, it looks like you have some dirt on your shoulders. You should probably remove it.

Golf Tournament

We have an open meeting about the Golf Tournament and committees Tuesday, March 16, 6-7pm in PFT 2149. All committee members, please plan on participating.

The newest versions of the sponsorship, donation, and registration forms are available on the Golf Tournament Website. Here is a note from Laney:

Hello everyone!

I hope you all are adjusting well to the Spring 2010 semester.

As you are aware, the MBA Charity Golf Tournament is scheduled for March 27th, only 2 months away!  We really really need your help with sponsorships--so here is the deal:  I'm asking each of you to try and get at least a hole sponsorship or a team sponsorship which is a $250 or $450 tax-deductible donation.  The perk of a team sponsorship is that there are 4 people to a team, so many businesses will sponsor and not even fill the team, allowing you and your friends to play for free!  We are having a hard time finding a Title Sponsor ($3000), so if you all could help round-up the holes/teams, me, Jose and the rest of the committee can focus on the big sponsorships!

Here are some ideas of who to ask:
Your current employer
Your family's businesses; Ex: my stepdad's law firm has committed to a hole sponsorship
Your friend's (or parents' friends businesses!)
Your internship/past employment
**Most companies have philanthropy budgets and you'd be surprised how willing they are to sponsor if you just ask!
Thank you in advance for your help and let me know of your successes!
