Distinguished Speaker Series

This week's Practice of Business is a Distinguished Speaker Series event. Hank Danos, President and CEO of Danos & Curole, will be our speaker. It will be held on Friday, October 3 from 10:00 am - Noon in the Energy, Coast & Environment Building Auditorium.

* Dress is business professional. Remember to wear your name tags and bring your ID's to scan in.

MBAA Events

MBAA Mad Hatter at Ivars
Thursday, October 9th, 8:30 pm - till

It's simply a party where you wear Hats - not boring baseball hats but FUN hats that spark a conversation. Guests are welcome to attend. Free beer till it's gone. Ivars is located under the Perkins road overpass (near Chelseas, Zippys, etc)


MBAA Annual Wine and Cheese Event
Friday, October 17th, 7 - 10 pm

Shaw Center for the Arts - 3rd Floor Gallery
(3rd Street, Downtown Baton Rouge)
Guests Tickets are available for $15 and can be purchased in the MBA office and at the 10/3 and 10/10 POBs. Complimentary wine, beer, and Hors d'œuvres. Cocktail Attire required. Event funded by MBAA and the MBA Office.

 
Social Events

Thursday Night Low Down
Thursday, October 2nd, 6 pm - till

We'll start off Thursday night at the REC Center fields at 6pm to check out the Men's MBAA flag football team followed by the Co-ed league team at 8pm. We'll cap the night off at Uncle Earl's (located in the shopping center at Perkins and Acadian) for some KARAOKE!


Pink Floyd Visual Music Light Show
Tuesday, October 7th, 6 - 9 pm

Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon, Visual Light Show at the Louisiana Arts and Science Museum (Downtown BR). Admission is $8. We'll arrive at the museum for 6pm to check out the exhibits. The light show starts at 8pm.

 
MBAA Dues
All first years who have not paid their $200 MBAA dues, please do so as soon as possible. You can drop off a check in the MBA office or with any MBAA officer. We will be sending the cohort leaders after you pretty soon!
 
Philanthropy
Thank you to everyone who volunteered and attended the Boys Hope Girls Hope Bowling Ball! It was a great success! If any 2nd years would like credit for Organizational Behavior, please bring me your form in class on Wednesday. Thanks again for all the help!

Breakfast Club
Tuesday, October 7th, 8:00 am

Our second Breakfast Club presentation will be held next Tuesday (October 7th) at 8:00am in Room 2147. Chris Dighton, who is the Vice President and CIO of Turner Industries, will be our featured presenter. Although Mr. Dighton will be discussing IT integration issues, his presentation will apply to a broader range of students who are interested in eventually reaching an executive-level position.

Golf Lessons
Andy will be holding golf lessons at 6:00 pm on Friday this week. We will be meeting at the LSU golf course pro shop and if you don't have clubs Andy will provide you with a club for the lessons. Anyone interested needs to email Andy by Thursday at jcifre1@lsu.edu so that he has an idea of how many people will be there.
